Illuminated carnival – 12 October 2019

Your evening illuminated carnival procession leaves Ansford Academy at 7pm before winding its way through the town.

Carnival spirit comes to Cary, with all the glitz, music and lights of the big floats, the engaging entertainment of our fabulous masqueraders walking through the town, and troupes of twirling majorettes.

We want you to have a great time, so here are a few things to look out for this year …

Bands!

Our favourite HMS Heron Volunteer Band are joined by the young talent of the Dolphin Marching Band.  They were great last year – the first time a crowd sang-a-long to a marching band!   Thanks to our sponsors, Cinema in Caryford and Stonewater respectively!

This year our South American rhythms come from Blackdown Samba Band– give them a toe-tapping, hip-wiggling ‘welcome back’ to Cary!

Shake it Shake it Shake it Shake it Baby!

We look forward to welcoming back the Desert Divas – fabulously entertaining, hip-swaying belly dancers, and we hope to have some walking fire-eaters burning up the town!  This time we are thanking The White Hart for sponsoring them!

A high old time?!

Definitely a first for Cary, and thanks to our sponsors The George Hotel, we have a Glow Stilt Walker joining the procession!   Plus we get to see circus act, Flotsam the Clown, a favourite at the Children’s Carnival all lit-up and grown-up for the evening illuminated carnival!  This time we are thanking The Delaware Veterinary Group for their generosity!

So, about the floats then?

We’re delighted that entries are again looking really strong.   Remember the amazing Fisherman’s Tale from Kipling Carnival Club last year?

We hear that Ansford Academy Carnival Club will again be entering, and also the Hopkins Family, who have built their own float!  Look out for them and give them a special Castle Cary Carnival cheer!

And watch out for the towns’ very own carnival club, Cary Comedians – how will they entertain us this year?!
