OUR FABULOUS SPONSORS – Shining a light on behind the scenes support

The Newt in Somerset go Platinum

An increasing presence in our town and community, we are delighted that The Newt in Somerset have donated £2,000.  Carnival is such an old Somerset tradition, it’s great that such a newcomer to the county is supporting us.  “We’re delighted to support the Carnival once again. A huge thank you to the incredible team who pull out all the stops to make it such a special occasion every year. We’re proud to play a part in another fantastic event for our town.”  Zoe Young, Community Liaison Officer at The Newt in Somerset.

Cary Town Council – supporting vital infrastructure

The Society were delighted when our local council agreed to fund St John’s Ambulance, and help with other items that keep us all safe on carnival night.  Trevor Oats, Chair says, “The Town Council of Castle Cary is pleased to offer our ongoing support to one of the major events of the year. The celebration of creativity, and happiness wrapped up in blanket of charitable giving is wonderful thing. When you add the unique nature of a Somerset Carnival you end up with the essence of our community, one that cares for its members, and our traditions.”

Worth their weight in gold!

As well as winning gold-medals for their farmhouse cheddar, Wyke Farms are worth their weight in the stuff for carnival, with a £500 donation.  “We’re absolutely delighted to be involved again this year. The Carnival is such a fantastic event for our local community and one we always look forward to. We’re proud to support it and to play a small part in making it such a success.”  Jennifer Gray, Marketing Manager.

Supporting us with £500 apiece are two other local businesses, very close to the hearts of our community’s dog owners, Crown Pet Foods who thanks to them we can enjoy HMS Heron, the Yeovilton band.  “We’re absolutely delighted to be back supporting the magnificent Castle Cary and Ansford Carnival this year. Being woven into the fabric of this vibrant community is incredibly close to our hearts, and we’re thrilled to play a part in making this a spectacular celebration for residents, and their pets. Wishing the best of luck to all the brilliant entrants!”

This time they are sharing the love with their ‘brother’ business James Wellbeloved. A  ‘woofy’ thank you from all our four and two-legged community members!  “James Wellbeloved are proud to have the opportunity to support the fantastic Castle Cary and Ansford Carnival! As a local business and employer, it’s a great chance to be part of this incredible community and celebrating with you all (pets included!). Congrats and good luck to everyone taking part!” says Dave Hoddinott, Site Services Lead.

Stonewood Builders, another new-to-the-community business has stepped in to support carnival in fine style.  And here’s wishing them well as they renovate the iconic George Hotel.  “Castle Cary is such a special place for Stonewood with some of our most prestigious projects being managed from the beautiful office we have in the town centre. We are delighted to be a part of the community and to support the carnival which will bring so many people together in celebration.” Stonewood Builders Managing Director, Jamie Priest.

Stonewood BuildingCary Cares – Grant Provider

Our Ann Hallett Children’s Carnival, is a very special procession, where local children take centre stage.  Once again, with huge thanks to Cary Cares, local children can see ace stilt-walker Flotsam the Fool in the procession and develop their circus skills at a popular workshop afterwards.

Silver Stars!

Once again we have a milky way of Silver star sponsors!  Firstly, a massive thank you to a local family who love carnival and have quietly donated £250.

Moving onto local businesses, our first silver sponsor is Battens Solicitors, who very quietly support so many important community and charitable activities in the area.

Next is Schimmel Hardware, the town’s one-stop-shop for your garden, homeware and hardware supplies – and some great customer service!  Also a chuckling thank you to the Giggling Grape, Cary’s new wine business that is Somerset’s answer to a Speakeasy, tucked away at the back of Schimmel Hardware!

Then BGW Solicitors – a huge shout-out to another local business that consistently supports the community it belongs to.

Another silver sponsor is Tom Trouton, Drystone Walls and Garden Landscapes.  Responsible for some of the most beautiful stonework around the area.

Supporting our expanded children’s carnival, now including Primary Schools outside Castle Cary like Ditcheat Primary, is Barbers Farmhouse Cheesemakers, based at Maryland Farm.  We’re delighted that again they are silver sponsors.

The Society loves the support that Pip and the White Hart team give carnival, including the venue for our monthly meetings, and helping to bring the toe-tapping Dolphin Marching Band to our streets.  Thank you!

Our final Silver sponsor has incredibly deep roots in our community, known to many as ‘Centaur’ rather than MWI Animal Health.

Bronze beauties!

So good to have support from John Boyd Textiles – the town’s unique horsehair factory – who is also the carnival’s most longstanding supporter.

Welcome to new sponsors; everyone’s favourite café, delicious brunch/ lunch spot and wicked bakery, Burnt Honey, also Drive’s Car and Commercial business, now busy serving customers in Yeovil – picking up loyal Cary customer’s cars to make it easy for us.

Another new sponsor is Elliscombe House, local residential and nursing care home.  “We are delighted to support such a joyous local event. Community relationships are extremely important for us all, especially such ones that touch our residents’ hearts. Many of our residents, their families and our staff have enjoyed watching and/or being part of the carnival for many years, and as a home we are so pleased to be a part of it this year and many more.” says Rebecca Leach, Activity and Engagement Manager.  And look out for her with her daughter collecting on carnival night.

Our final sponsor is Cary Good Things and Delilah, the town’s beautifully restored telephone box.  She’s calling our attention to Cary Good Things, everyone’s one stop shop for all the Good Things and Good People in our wonderful community.

Enormous and heart-felt thanks from the Carnival Society Committee goes to every single one of these local people, businesses and organisations.
