Making the most of carnival 2026!
Evening Illuminated Carnival, Saturday 17 October from 7pm

The parade leaves Ansford Academy before winding its way through the town and ending along Station Road.
Carnival spirit comes to Cary in style, with the glitz, music and lights of the big floats, the engaging entertainment of our fabulous masqueraders walking through the town, a variety of bands and troupes of twirling majorettes.
Here are a few things to look out for this year …
Before the procession
Food outlets
Food and drinks this year will all be provided by local pubs, shops and carnival’s own authentic German sausage stall. We want to give every opportunity to support our local community!
Bands!
Our favourite HMS Heron Volunteer Band – sponsored with huge thanks by Royal Canin (aka the ‘pet food factory’) will be joined by the young talent of the Dolphin Marching Band – this is year sponsored by the town’s White Hart pub!
Our other band is a little different – promising to honk their way round the town are the Frome Street Bandits! And we can’t wait!!!
So, about the floats then?
It’s amazing we’re got more floats entered than we’ve had in years!
Here’s just a few … the town’s own Castle Cary Comedians are out again. After last year’s entry ‘Rear ended’ this year they ‘Going wild’! I daren’t think!
Always one to watch out for, Kipling Carnival Club from Shaftesbury, are taking to our streets with the crazy sounding ‘Insane Experiments’, with two other great clubs back again; the mighty Hot Rock, with their intriguing entry ‘Return of the Tribe’ and the only tableau float will be back. A huge Cary welcome to ‘The Ivy Realm’, from the only ‘tableau’ club Magnum Carnival Club.
After the procession
This year the carnival results will be announced outside the Market House – as quickly as we can process the Judges’ scores. So, it’s party time in the town centre, with the Frome Street Bandits back to entertain the crowd, and more tunes and tracks from Les Chaffe.
Last year there was dancing in the streets … so let’s party Cary!
PS – it’s a great time to support our local pubs and bars, with The George Hotel open for a final night before closing for renovations!
BRING IT ON!!
