Donations Flow From Cary’s Carnival Committee

Castle Cary’s Carnival Committee once again proved the value of Carnival to the community by donating a total of £3000 to 14 local deserving causes and emergency services.

Over 60 people attended the event, last Friday evening at Cary’s Constitutional Club.

The recipients were: Ansford School Drama Group, Caryford Hall, Cemetery Chapel Friends Group, Castle Cary Out Of School Club, St Maragarets Hospice, Somerset & Wessex Eating Disorders Association, Toybox Preschool, Somerset & Dorset Air Ambulance, Avalon Round Table, Britannia Carnival Club, Cary Comedians Carnival Club, South Western Ambulance Services, Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Services, Avon & Somerset Police.

The cheques were given out by Wessex Queen Emma Vine and Cary’s own Carnival Princess, Maisey Cryer.

Committee President Gordon Stockman said: “As ever, it’s great to be able to support local groups in this way. All the more so, because our 2009 carnival collections were made in the middle of the credit crunch – and yet our supporters were as generous as ever.”
