CCACS New Committee Members For 2015

Although it’s some time till the 2015 carnival season, Castle Cary’s carnival committee is busy behind the scenes – fund-raising, donating to deserving local causes and other work to keep their carnival alive.

Two key Committee roles are taken up by new members: Caroline Sharley replaces Sue Stockman as General Secretary, and Jeanie Thanisch is understudying the Treasurer role with the current incumbent Ann Emery, in order to pick up this vital role in due course.

From next month, the Carnival Society is reviving the popular monthly bingo sessions previously run in the town. From 4 February – and then on the first Wednesday of each month – there will be sessions held in the Scout Hall. Doors open at 6:45 pm; eyes-down at 7:30 pm and tea and coffee is available. The Committee’s Caroline Sharley said, “This was an excellent idea from our Chair, Di Pinnions. We know that the monthly bingo sessions that used to be held in Cary were very popular and are missed. So it makes good sense for us to revive them, as a fund- raising venture for Cary’s carnivals.”

Cary’s Carnival Society’s annual Presentations Evening takes place at the Castle Cary Rugby Club at 7:30 pm on Friday 6 February. With over £1400 to share out from last year’s carnival collections , a number of local deserving causes will benefit.

The Society’s AGM takes place at 8 pm on Tuesday 3 March in Castle Cary Scout Hall (next to the Primary School) and the committee would very much welcome anyone who wishes to attend.
