MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR EVENING CARNIVAL 2023!
Welcome to another year of Carnival in Castle Cary & Ansford.
The Evening Illuminated Carnival, is on Saturday 14 October from 7pm
The parade leaves Ansford Academy before winding its way through the town ending along Station Road.
We hope that we can get you in the Carnival sprit with the fun, music, lights and laughter of the big floats, the creativity and entertainment of the amazing masqueraders, the fabulous toe tapping sounds of various different bands and the twirling of our stunning majorettes.
Here are a few things to look out for this year
Before the procession
From 6pm outside the Market House in the centre of town, you can sing and dance to the incredible 60s, 70s and 80s hits from highly acclaimed and immensely talented Justin Daish.
Food Outlets
Food and Drinks will all be provided by local pubs and shops, plus Carnivals very own authentic German Sausage stall. We want to give every opportunity to support our local community.
Bands
We will have amazing on route music from the superb HMS Heron Volunteer Band and the very talented Dolphin Marching Band and get your dancing shoes out to welcome back the South American Rhythms from Blackdown Samba. Usually we stop there but we are so excited to welcome back the Bagpipes and swirling kilts of the City of Bristol Pipe & Drums.
So, what about the floats?
We are delighted that entries are looking really strong again this year. Kipling’s entry Blocos De Carnaval sounds very interesting and this year’s entry from Oasis, Nightmare before Christmas is a spooky classic. Get your hips ready to wiggle as Hot Rock is hitting us with “Samba” flavours. It is shaping up to be a great night!
After the procession
The Carnival results will be announced outside the Market House as quickly as we can process the judge’s scores. We will have live entertainment from Blackdown Samba and more wonderful hits from Justin Daish. So be sure to stick around.
