Carnival Day Road Closures 2023

From 6:30pm to 11:00pm (latest) there will be mandatory road closures in place.  They will be in the centre of town on the carnival route, and on approach roads to Castle Cary.

Whilst their purpose is to ensure the evening passes safely and everyone has a great time, we appreciate that some people will be inconvenienced; please speak to one of our marshals who will help as much as possible.

The following roads will be closed:

  • On the junction of Millbrook Gardens / Park Street (at Phillips Garage)
  • At Station Road, before the West Park turning
  • On the A371 at the top of Ansford Hill (after the Tuckers Lane turning)
  • Wyke Road at junction with Ansford Road (Waggon and Horses)
  • The A371 / A359 at Grove Cross (crossroads to Bruton and Wincanton)
  • The turnpike at the A359 / B3152 (off the Galhampton/Sparkford road)
  • The junction of the A371 / B3152 (at the bottom of Ansford Hill)
  • The junction of Torbay Road and Station Road (the top of Torbay Road)

Where the carts line up, the following roads will also be closed, between 4:00pm – 11:00pm:

  • Victoria Park, Victoria Gardens, Florida Fields, and Churchfield Drive
