Making the Children’s Carnival extra special

CHILDREN’S CARNIVAL – Saturday 8 October, 3pm – 5pm.  Our fabulous Children’s Carnival procession leaves the Primary School at 3pm, parades round the town before arriving at the Market House for further entertainment including a circus skills workshop and a performance by our very own Cygnets Majorettes.

MAKING THE CHILDREN’S CARNIVAL EXTRA SPECIAL.  This year we have a theme … BUGS!  To make entering as easy as possible we are encouraging people to ‘go all Blue Peter’, and make costumes from recycled materials, and bits and pieces you have around the house.  We are also offering craft materials to all entrants – schools, groups and families.  Just ask!

We are also having two FUN CRAFT AFTERNOONS on Sunday 14 August and 18 September, 2 – 4 pm at Castle Cary Scout Hut, up the hill from the Primary School.  Bring your children along to make their costume, and enjoy other activities!

And a quick update on our EVENING ILLUMINATED CARNIVAL – Saturday 15 October.  The procession leaves Ansford School at 7pm, goes along Cumnock Terrace, comes down North Street, through the town, along Station Road finishing just after the Torbay Road junction.

We’ve already booked three bands, and had our first big float entry from Cary Comedians.  With more floats and loads of walking entries, majorette troupes and entertainment outside the Market House after the procession; it’s shaping up to be a great night out – that also raises money for our community.
