Carnival 2021 – Latest News

Due the pandemic Castle Cary and Ansford carnival couldn’t celebrate 100 years of carnival last year.  That was one reason why the Carnival Society were especially keen to put on a procession in 2021.

“We know it will be different this year,” said Society Chair, Paul Burch, “It’s about celebrating as a community that we are coming out of the pandemic, and looking forward positively to the future.”

There are already some great walking entries, a few small floats, plus twirling majorettes and three stomping bands.

And the procession will feature a magical new addition – a lantern procession!  Already local primary schools are signed up to create some amazing entries, including; Castle Cary, Wincanton, and North Cadbury.

ieties, families and friends to enter – you don’t need a float, and walking entries can be easier than people think.  Often simple ideas work best – a funny take on your club or organisation, your favourite TV program, or band.”
