Local Carnival Gives Over £2400 Back To The Community.
A local Somerset Carnival has helped local groups and emergency services, through its annual donations to the community. Castle Cary & Ansford’s Carnival Committee this week gave donations to local deserving groups and emergency services. At a joyful event, held at the Constitutional Club (Station Road, Castle Cary), the Carnival Committee provided much-needed support to local deserving groups. From its two October 2010 carnival processions, it raised over £2400. The cash was distributed to fourteen deserving causes – to meet specific requests for help and to provide ongoing funding for local volunteer and other groups in the Castle Cary & Ansford area.
Committee Chairman Gordon Stockman said, “This is what Carnival is all about: as well having great fun on the night and bringing the community together, Carnival exists to support the community that supports it.” He added: “We are grateful to everyone who gave to our Children’s and Illuminated Carnivals last year. At a time when funding is increasingly hard to find, it’s more important than ever that Carnival can give to those who need help.”
