Make the most of your 2018 Carnival Processions
Welcome to another great year of carnival in Castle Cary and Ansford.
The dates for your diaries are:
The Ann Hallett Children’s Carnival, Saturday 6 October from 3pm
After the procession, outside the Market House in the centre of town, the prizes will be awarded accompanied by a Children’s Festival of entertainment.
The Evening Illuminated Carnival, Saturday 13 October from 7pm
As always, the procession will leave Ansford Academy and wind its way through the town.
Carnival spirit comes to Cary, with all the glitz, music and lights of the big floats, the engaging entertainment of our fabulous masqueraders walking through the town, and troupes of twirling majorettes.
We want you to have a great time, so here are a few things to look out for this year …
Bands!
Before the procession comes to the town centre, and after its passed through, local favourite covers band A Cunning Plan will be playing outside the Market House. So get there nice and early and enjoy the party atmosphere!
Our favourite HMS Heron Volunteer Band are joined by the young talent of the Meridian Corps of Drums, and we really hope to welcome back the bagpipes and swirling kilts of City of Bristol Pipes and Drums that were so popular last year.
Shake it Shake it Shake it Shake it Baby!
New to our carnival we welcome the Desert Divas – fabulously entertaining, hip-swaying belly dancers!
And of course, the hilarious Male Majorettes are back again by popular demand.
Zooming along
And we are hoping that the prestigious Haynes International Motor Museum will be supporting us again. This year, they are heading for ‘royal appointment’. So place your bets about which of their fabulous cars will be appearing on the streets of Cary – and we are talking about some serious, high revving vehicles!
Back to School
Continuing the wonderful participation of our local schools that was such a feature of our 40th anniversary year, we are hoping that again they will be entering the procession.
Ansford Academy who last year wowed the crowd with their inaugural carnival float, will be once again showcasing their talent!
And we’re really hoping that Castle Cary Primary School are once again staying up late to delight us all with a special walking entry for the evening procession.
Laughing all the way!
And watch out for the towns’ very own carnival club, Cary Comedians – how will they entertain us this year?!
