Castle Cary & Ansford Carnival Society / Events  / Carnival spirit is alive and well in Cary!

Carnival spirit is alive and well in Cary!

What a relief – fine weather for our Children’s and Illuminated Carnivals!

As ever the Children’s Carnival was incredibly heart warming. There were entries from more local schools and youth groups than ever, and it was especially good to see Toybox Pre-school back. A big thank you to all the family, friends, teachers, club leaders and everyone who stuck, painted and sewed such wonderfully creative outfits.

A week later, a bumper crowd gathered in Castle Cary to celebrate the tradition, noise and lights of carnival. And some of the big floats certainly lit up the narrow streets of our dear town! They punctuated a wonderfully varied procession of bands, majorettes and an incredible array of walking entries.

The creativity and quality of the entries was higher than ever. The Clubs had clearly put pandemic time to good use!

“It was great to see the community come together in numbers that I’ve never seen before” said Carnival Society Chair, Paul Burch. “Entrants commented on how warm and welcoming the crowd was. I saw loads of people dancing and cheering.”

THANK YOU!

The Carnival Society would like to thank everyone ; our sponsors, marshals, collectors and the 100’s of other people who help make out big night out happen.
