Ann Hallett Children’s Carnival
Last Saturday, forecast rain cleared early encouraging a bumper crowd into Castle Cary to watch a hugely entertaining Children’s Carnival procession. The number of children participating was up significantly on last year, and the entries shone with creativity and colour.
“It was great to see so many smiling faces” said organiser Sue Pexton, “It’s not only the children having a good time!”
Fronting the procession were the Children’s Carnival Prince and Princess, Aiden Weiss and India Weller, riding in their very own pony and trap, followed by Cary’s Cygnet Majorettes in high-stepping form.
The number and quality of the entries was better than ever, including a host of vibrant ‘Carybbean’ revellers, Peter Pan and lost boys, a roll-along Jolly Roger and treasure, also a crowd of clocks that had got ‘Stuck in Time’ and an English Country Garden – including lily pond!
Committee Treasurer, Jeannie Thanisch said “The Children’s Carnival is such a special event! Every year it gets more and more popular – and deservedly so. Everyone works incredibly hard to put on a heart-warming show.”
