Shining a light on behind the scenes support.
Our local councils are leading the way with support for Castle Cary and Ansford’s biggest community event.
Ansford Parish Council has given a grant of £500 to the Children’s Carnival, helping to grow the next generation of carnival lovers. “Ansford Parish Council is once again delighted to support the Children’s Carnival. Its inclusiveness represents the best of our communities.” said Chair, Debra Henderson.
Castle Cary Town Council has also given a grant amounting to £700 to cover vital health and safety, and infrastructure costs. Trevor Oats, Chair says, “The Town Council of Castle Cary is pleased to offer our ongoing support to one of the major events of the year. The celebration of creativity, and happiness wrapped up in blanket of charitable giving is wonderful thing. When you add the unique nature of a Somerset Carnival you end up with the essence of our community, one that cares for its members, and our traditions.”
Royal Canin, Wyke Farms and The Newt are gold sponsors!
As well as winning gold-medals for their farmhouse cheddar, Wyke Farms are worth their weight in the stuff for carnival, with a £500 donation, making them Gold sponsors. “We’re absolutely delighted to be involved again this year. It’s always a pleasure to support the Carnival – it’s a fantastic event for our community. It’s always a highlight and we’re proud to be part of it.” Jennifer Gray, Marketing Manager.
We are delighted to have the returning support of Royal Canin aka ‘the Pet Food Factory’. Part of Mars Petcare, the organisation has a very strong ethos of supporting its communities. “We’re absolutely thrilled to be supporting the Castle Cary and Ansford Carnival this year. Being part of this community means a lot to us, and we want to help make sure that both local people – and their pets – can enjoy the fun!” Their funding meant that the crowd’s favourite, Dolphin Marching Band, could come and delight everyone.
An increasing presence in our town and community, we are delighted that The Newt in Somerset have also donated £500. Carnival is such an old Somerset tradition, it’s great that such a newcomer to the country is supporting us. “We are thrilled to support the Carnival and its rich history within the town. It is another incredible event that makes Castle Cary & Ansford the community it is and one we are exceptionally proud to be a part of.” Zoe Young, Community Liaison Officer
Silver Stars!
A huge thank you to Battens Solicitors for supporting carnival again. Battens very quietly support so many important community and charitable activities in the area. “We are delighted to support the carnival again as a Silver sponsor. The carnival has a long history within the town and we love seeing how it brings the community come together.” Sarah Gorman, Marketing Manager at Battens Solicitors.
Once again we have a milky way of other silver sponsors. MWI Animal Health, known to so many of us as Centaur Services; great to have their support, especially with roots going so deep into our community.
The White Hart pub; “cheers” to Pip and Squeak for sponsoring us. We’ll do our best to bring in the customers for you on carnival night!
A massive thanks to Schimmel Hardware, the town’s one-stop-shop for your garden, homeware and hardware supplies – and some great customer service! Also BGW Solicitors, a huge shout-out to another local business that consistently supports the community it belongs to.
A new silver sponsor is Tom Trouton, Drystone Walls and Garden Landscapes, responsible for some of the most beautiful stonework around the area.
Supporting our expanded children’s carnival, now including Primary Schools outside Castle Cary like Ditcheat Primary, is Barbers Farmhouse Cheesemakers, based at Maryland Farm. We’re delighted that again they are silver sponsors.
Another supporter of the Children’s Carnival is our wonderful local charity, Cary Cares, who have given us a grant to fund Flotsam the Fool participating in the procession, and then running a circus skills workshop after the children’s procession outside the Market House.
Our last Silver Sponsor is none other than Delilah, the town’s beautifully restored telephone box. Once refitted with her door, she will be ready to showcase all that is wonderful about our community.
Bronze beauties! So good to have support from John Boyd – the town’s unique horsehair factory – who is also the carnival’s most longstanding supporter. And thank you to Catelier (the bespoke perfume and interiors shop where Martin’s Stores used to be), in the High Street, for sponsoring us again.
Enormous and heart-felt thanks from the Carnival Society Committee goes to every single one of these local businesses and organisations.
