McDonald’s Sparkford are lovin’ carnival

It’s a fresh, sunny morning in June, and a couple of the carnival committee members are reliving old times having a McDonalds breakfast near the Sparkford restaurant.  “Just wonderful that McDonald’s want us to help out this year!”, I say.  “Cheers!” replies Jeannie Thanisch, Treasurer, ‘chinking’ our coffee cups!

This year we’re pleased to announce that the McDonald’s restaurant in Sparkford will be supporting the two upcoming carnivals in nearby Castle Cary. We’ve spoken to the restaurant team about getting involved in the games and circus skills workshop that takes place after the progression at the Children’s Carnival, and its been agreed that the McDonalds team will do mask making and face painting for the children.

The team will also be collecting money for local charities at the Illuminated Carnival later in the year, over the past ten years we’ve raised over £25,000, so look forward to the McDonald’s volunteers help with adding to this this year.

Franchisee Sarah Lloyd has recently acquired the McDonald’s restaurant in Sparkford, and her and the team are keen to throw themselves in to helping the local community. Sarah also owns the restaurant in Amesbury, where staff have made a real difference to their community over the past couple of years. The Amesbury team have been involved in numerous litter picks of the areas around their restaurant, and have also previously helped out with the Amesbury Carnival.

So, look out for the McDonalds team at both our carnivals, and a huge thanks from everyone for your Carnival Spirit!
