Road closures and diversions

This year, in the centre of the town there will be road closures from 3.30pm

  • Junction of Ansford Road / High Street (by Highfield Nursing Home)
  • Left turn at the junction of Woodcock Street with the High Street (by Barclays Bank)
  • Right turn at the junction of Bailey Hill with the High Street.

As usual, mandatory road closures will be in place outside Cary from 6.30 pm until 11 pm. They are:

  • The A371 / A359 at Grove Cross (crossroads to Bruton and Wincanton)
  • The turnpike at the A359 / B3152 (off the Galhampton/Sparkford road)
  • The junction of the A371 / B3152 (at the bottom of Ansford Hill)
  • The junction of Torbay Road and Station Road (the top of Torbay Road)

Road closures will also be in place on the Carnival Route from 6.30 pm until around 11 pm. They are:

  • On the junction of Millbrook Gardens / Park Street (at Phillips Garage)
  • At Station Road, before the West Park turning
  • On the A371 at the top of Ansford Hill (after the Tuckers Lane turning)

Car parking

There are two free public car parks within the town, although they are likely to get very busy:

  • Millbrook BA7 7EE (85 spaces)
  • Catherine’s Close BA7 7HP (36 spaces)

On-street parking is also available at the following locations:

  • Ansford Hill BA7 7JL
  • Ansford Road BA7 7HG
  • Torbay Road Industrial Area BA7 7DT
  • Park Street BA7 7EQ
  • South Street BA7 7ES
  • Tuckers Lane BA7 7LF
  • Mullins Way BA7 7LU

When using on-street parking we politely request you respect any parking restrictions, park legally and safely and do not block access to residents’ property.

Carnival route

The procession starts at Ansford Academy at 7pm, goes left onto the A371 (Cumnock Road), turning right into North Street, before moving through the town centre.  It then goes along Station Road before going right, into Victoria Park.
