Put your best float forward!
This year the carnival society are excited to introduce a new class of float, designed for local people and groups who would like to have a go! All you need is a good idea, a trailer or flatbed truck and some creativity. You could make your costumes, and design your float in the last few weeks or days before the carnival – it’s all about having a go!
Why enter?
Perhaps you want to promote an upcoming event, let everyone know about your organisation, or summon up the spirit of carnival – dress up, entertain people and help raise money for local charitable organisations.
You’ll have a great night too … and you’ll get £120 entrance money.

The safety bits and pieces
Your trailer has to be under 2.55 meters wide and under 7 metres long. The build has to be within the width and length of the trailer – so nothing is overhanging. The towing vehicle needs to be taxed, tested and have the driver has public liability insurance. The driver needs a suitable license and insurance. You will also need to have wheel chocks, a fire extinguisher and everyone on the float has to be tied on.
